Door/Wall Design Considerations

Wall- Base, Case, Picture rail, Chair rail, and Crown moulding.

Door "A"- The door is trimmed using case moulding miter cut at 45 degrees at the top two corners. The base moulding is butted to the case.

Door "B"- The door is trimmed using two plinth blocks with vertical case stacked on top, two rosettes applied at the top corners, and one horizontal case head trim. The base butts to the plinth block.

Wall- Base, Panel Trim, Chair rail, Picture rail, and Crown moulding

Door "C"- The door is trimmed using two vertical case legs butted into a case head. The case head maybe made from one piece of moulding or 3 to 4 single pieces to create the look shown. The base is butted into the case at the floor.

Door "D"- The door is trimmed using two plinth blocks with vertical case stacked on top, and a case head. The case head may be made from one piece of moulding or 3 to 4 single pieces to create the look shown. The base in butted into the plinth at the floor.

Window "A"

This style consists of two vertical and one horizontal case pieces, one sill extension, and one apron. The two corners at the top of the window are mitered at a 45 degree angle to one another. The sides terminate on top of the sill. Both the side case, and top case are applied to the wall, and the window jamb. The apron fits underneath the sill with the leading edges lining through with the outside edge of the vertical case. The apron ends are mitered back on to the wall. The sill extension is notch cut on both outside ends to dog ear back to the wall alowing the vertical case to stack on top of the sill.
